A lot of the network problems we get called about start in a closet like the one on the left: years of add-ons, nothing labeled, switches hanging off the drywall, and no way to tell which cable feeds which desk. The fix isn't always new cable. It's re-terminating what's there onto patch panels, mounting it in a proper rack with cable management, labeling every run at both ends, and handing over a port map — so the next outage is a five-minute fix instead of an afternoon tracing cables.

We walk the space or work from your floor plan: count the drops, note ceiling type, distances, plenum and firestop requirements, and confirm where everything terminates in the closet.

One written quote

We work with several local low-voltage contractors and match the job to the right crew for your building, timeline, and budget. You get one itemized, per-drop quote from Harmony MSP — the most efficient and cost-effective option, not just the first one.

STEP 03

Pull, terminate, test

Cable is pulled, terminated on patch panels and jacks, and every run is tested and certified before sign-off. Small jobs are usually a single visit; build-outs are scheduled around drywall and move-in dates.

Label, document, connect

Every run labeled at both ends, patch panel numbered, port map delivered. If we manage your network through managed IT & security, we patch the switches, set PoE and VLANs, and light it up the same day.

Multiple runs to the same drop are discounted — they share one pathway, so the hard part is done once. Every job gets a written, itemized quote before any work begins.

STANDARD DROP

$200–$300 per drop

A single Cat6 run through an accessible drop ceiling to a wall jack or ceiling location, terminated and tested at both ends. Typical for desks, printers, conference rooms, and access points.

COMPLEX DROP

$300+ per drop

Long pulls, hard-lid ceilings, exterior or conduit pathways, firewall penetrations, plenum-rated cable, or after-hours work. Priced individually after the walkthrough — no surprises on the invoice.

MULTIPLE RUNS, SAME DROP

Discounted per run

A desk cluster, a conference room, a camera-and-AP pair — when several cables share one pathway, the hard part is done once and each additional run costs less. Ask about office-wide pulls.

Fiber runs, rack builds, and closet cleanups are quoted by the project. Every quote is written and itemized before work begins.

How much does network cabling cost in Orlando?

Most drops run $200–$300+ each, depending on complexity — the length of the run, ceiling type, plenum requirements, and how hard the pathway is to reach. Multiple runs to the same drop are discounted because they share one pathway. Fiber, rack builds, and closet cleanups are quoted by the project. You get a written, itemized quote before any work starts.

What counts as a “drop”?

One cable run from the network closet to a single location — a wall jack at a desk, a ceiling box for an access point or camera — terminated on a patch panel at one end and a jack at the other, tested, and labeled. Cable, jack, faceplate, and patch panel port are itemized in the quote.

Cat6 or Cat6a — which do we need?

Cat6 carries 1 Gbps at the full 100-meter distance and 10 Gbps on shorter runs, which is right for most offices. Cat6a carries 10 Gbps the full distance and handles high-power PoE for newer Wi-Fi access points better. For a new build-out you expect to keep for ten years, or anywhere you'll run 10G links or Wi-Fi 6E/7 access points, we recommend Cat6a — the cable costs a little more and the labor is nearly the same.

Do you install fiber?

Yes. Fiber is the answer between buildings, between floors or closets, and anywhere a run would exceed copper's 100-meter limit or pass through heavy electrical interference. Fiber runs are quoted by the project after a walkthrough.

Can you clean up our network closet without re-running everything?

Usually. Most closets don't need new cable — they need the existing runs re-terminated onto patch panels, mounted in a proper rack with cable management, labeled at both ends, and documented with a port map. That's what the before-and-after photo above shows. We'll tell you during the walkthrough if any runs are damaged or too short to re-terminate.

Who actually does the work?

Harmony MSP scopes and designs the job, writes the quote, and tests the result. The physical pull is done by one of several local low-voltage contractors we've vetted and work with regularly, matched to your building, timeline, and budget so you get the most efficient and cost-effective option. You deal with one company, one quote, and one point of contact.

Do we need to be a managed IT client?

No. Cabling is available as a standalone project for any Orlando-area business. If you are a managed client, we also handle the switch side — patching, PoE, VLANs, and access point configuration — as part of the same project.

Do you serve areas outside Orlando?

Yes — Orlando and all of Central Florida, including Lake Mary, Sanford, Winter Park, Altamonte Springs, Longwood, Kissimmee, Lake Nona, and the surrounding areas.
